Help give special care babies the best possible start in life Helen, Darren and Rufus’ story Rufus was born eight-and-a-half weeks premature. In the early days mum Helen wasn’t able to produce enough breast milk but was so anxious Rufus should get it, that the little she did produce was brought into hospital by dad Darren at all hours of the day and night. Helen said: “Having a premature baby is one of the most stressful events in anyone’s life and the last thing a new mum wants to worry about is whether she can produce Enough milk. I had read about the benefits of breast milk and wanted Rufus to be breastfed rather than receive formula milk. Having a milk bank would offer great peace of mind for other mums in my situation.”
